Delivering to Fort Bragg: gate, hours and ID rules for truck drivers

The short version

All commercial deliveries to Fort Bragg go through one place: the Knox Street Truck Plaza, Building K-1153 on Knox Street. [3]

The Truck Plaza is open to commercial vehicles from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends and federal holidays. [2][3]

Bring a bill of lading or invoice with the delivery address. Every person in the truck needs a REAL ID or an approved alternate ID. Without those, you will be turned away. [3]

Everyone in the truck gets a background check. A felony in the last 10 years means you will be denied entry. [3]

Fort Liberty is Fort Bragg again

If your paperwork or GPS still says Fort Liberty, you are headed to the right place. The Army changed the name back to Fort Bragg effective March 7, 2025. [1]

The post is now named for Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a Battle of the Bulge hero. The Army describes it as its largest installation. [1]

The Knox Street Truck Plaza

The Truck Plaza is for commercial vehicles only. Personal vehicles do not go through it. [2]

Hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturday, Sunday and federal holidays the hours are 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Army's delivery instruction sheet lists the same weekend hours. [2][3]

The Truck Plaza Visitor Control Center sits off Cook Street, outside Access Control Point 16. Its phone numbers are (910) 907-5168 and (910) 907-5169. Call them before a holiday or late-day delivery so the hours do not catch you out. [2]

Paperwork and ID

You need a bill of lading or an invoice that shows the delivery address on post. The guard checks it at the gate. [3]

Every person in the truck needs a REAL ID. If someone does not have one, the Army accepts alternate IDs such as a passport, a TWIC card or a CAC. [3]

The ID rule applies to every person in the truck, not only the driver. Check your co-driver's ID before you leave the yard. [3]

Vendors must show proof that they are authorized vendors and pass background vetting before they are let on post. [2]

Background check and inspection

Guards run a background check on everyone in the truck. A felony conviction in the last 10 years means denial. Several misdemeanors can also get you denied. [3]

The guard inspects the truck and everything in it before letting you through. Build that time into your arrival. [3]

Oversize trucks and unit freight

If your truck cannot clear the standard gates, you are sent to the Knox Street Truck Plaza. When the Truck Plaza is closed, oversize vehicles use the Honeycutt Road and Long Street access points. [2]

Freight for Fort Bragg units runs through the Installation Transportation Office's Surface Movements freight office. It is at J-1745 Cook Street, and the phone number is (910) 396-3133. [4]

That office handles line-haul, rail and small-package shipments. Protective gear is required on its loading ramp under Fort Bragg Regulation 385-10. [4]

Getting there from I-95

The I-295 Fayetteville Outer Loop is finished. Its last 5.2-mile section opened in November 2025. [5]

The loop is a four-lane divided freeway with a 65 mph limit. Along the post it has interchanges at the All American Freeway, Bragg Boulevard and Murchison Road. [5]

NCDOT says the finished loop gives direct connections from Fort Bragg to I-95. [6]

Expect work zones on I-95 north of Fayetteville. The stretch from Exit 71 to Exit 81 near Dunn is being rebuilt under a $236.5 million contract, with new interchanges at Exits 72, 73, 75 and 77. [10]

South of Fayetteville, I-95 through Lumberton is being widened from four lanes to eight between mile markers 13 and 21. NCDOT's April 2026 project page gives no finish date. [11]

Where to park and fuel

The Pilot at 65 Sadler Road in Dunn, I-95 Exit 75, has 265 public parking spaces and 11 fuel lanes. It also has a CAT scale, showers, DEF lanes, laundry and a drivers lounge. [8]

Farther north at Kenly, the Flying J at 1800 Princeton Kenly Road is open 24 hours with truck parking and a CAT scale. [8]

If you head east on I-40 toward Wilmington after the delivery, the Pilot at I-40 Exit 364 in Warsaw has truck parking and a CAT scale. [9]

NCDOT has a rest area on I-95 at mile marker 47 in Cumberland County. It serves both directions. [7]
